The Lookout Tavern is now proudly serving MV Food Guy Wings. This is a recipe I have been perfecting for a while. I made it a couple of times last football season, but it all exploded with an Emeril Lagasee deep fryer, purchased for my girlfriend, for Christmas. I admit, she asked for it for Christmas but it was one of those gifts that you give to someone that you can’t wait to try out. If anyone is looking for a deep fryer, I highly recommend this one. You can set the actual temperature you want the oil to be and then drain the oil and re-use it. I have made some awesome fish and chips and wings in it so far and we attempted fried calamari but that’s not making a menu any time soon.

I started making deep-fried wings in a large pot with oil on the stove. It works pretty good but the deep fryer just makes it easier with the basket and controlled temperature of the oil. I always use bone in chicken wings. Yes it’s messier, but I think they hold more flavor. I introduced these wings at a friend’s house a couple of years ago and they have been a hit since. Their latest and greatest appearance was during this past years Superbowl where I packed up the Emeril fryer, brought it to a friend’s house and cooked up my wings. There was so much food at the party but I couldn’t keep up with the demand for my wings. They have a sauce on them which makes them spicy and sweet at the same time. The next day I took a couple to the owner of the Lookout a close personal friend of mine. After he ate the first one he said, “I have to get the recipe for these.” I will put them on the menu at the Lookout. Wait, what ? I didn’t even know that was possible. I guess when he owns the place, anything is possible. The Lookout Tavern, as everyone knows is a great restaurant on Seaview Ave in Oak Bluffs across from the Steamship Authority. The Lookout has undoubtedly the best sushi on the island. And now I’m very excited to say they have the MV Food Guy wings.
